Improving formal and informal presentation skills
When presenting a speech or report to people of a culture other than your own, the impression you want to give is not always the impression that people receive.
To make the right impression and really communicate your message often requires adapting your behaviour as well as your material. This course allows you to understand how and practice both.
You will learn how behaviours which are culturally appropriate in your native country may be interpreted differently in the Canadian context. You will develop the ability to present yourself to others one-on-one and in a group for formal and informal presentations. This course covers:
- Appearance, grooming and appropriate body language
- Levels of formality -- knowing your audience
- Structuring your presentation
- Word selection and sentence structure
- Using language effectively
- Speaking clearly and voice projection
